Anavar (also known as Oxandrolone) is a popular anabolic steroid released in 1964. Originally, it was developed for treatment of debilitated HIV-infected patients with osteoporosis, osteochondrosis, Turner syndrome and anemia. But a little later is started to be actively used in bodybuilding.
Anavar is a synthetic steroid, its ring A is a heterocycle, wherein the second carbon atom is substituted with an oxygen atom. It is well-known for its low androgenic activity and high anabolic index. It can be safely used by both men and women.

Oxandrolone is very powerful and also is mild, it has few possible side effects which virtually never occur. Its harmful effect on the liver is very weak, as it is a 17-alpha alkylated steroid.
There were several studies conducted on Anavar effects and it was concluded that it is better for fat burning than for muscle mass gain. However, it still helps to lose a small amount of excess fat in the body.
