Many women perceive pregnancy as a disease. Pregnancy only means that now a woman needs to think not only about herself, but also about someone who lives and develops inside her. Each step, every action, the eaten product, the done exercise will affect the future child. Pregnant athletes need to learn the following points:
- Pregnancy is a huge load;
- During pregnancy, the hormones vary greatly. They become favorable for the development and bearing of offspring;
- During pregnancy, professional athletes are not recommended to quit sports, but it is necessary to completely change the schedule and minimize the load.
Can women practice sports during pregnancy? Of course, they can, but the format of exercises should be completely different. The nature of the exercises will depend on the testimony of ultrasound and a general blood test. Any sport is contraindicated in case of such pathologies as: weak ability of the uterus and its neck to retain the embryo inside, a multiple pregnancy, which exerts a big load on the body when there is a threat of miscarriage when there is a weak tone, with anemia. It will be necessary to suspend sports and those women who become pregnant as a result of IVF. Such women and without sports are at risk of abortion or miscarriage.
Every athlete knows that professional sports do not like pauses and breaks. That’s why, a professional athlete should know that if she does not have any pathologies, until the second trimester she can live a full active lifestyle, continuing training until the fetus starts actively growing. However, there is one condition – training with weights will have to be alleviated by half, since large loads can affect the tone of the uterus and cause miscarriage due to chorion detachment.
Sports during pregnancy is useful and can improve the course of this process. Sport helps to fight against toxicosis, gestosis, hemorrhoids, varicose veins and thrombosis, oxygen deficiency. Women who do not exercise during pregnancy, but have a sedentary lifestyle, suffer a number of ailments – for example, fetal hypoxia, ruptures, edema. Sports exercises during this period should correspond to the physical level of a woman. If you were running, then you need to continue running, if you spent half a day in the gym, you should keep on doing it, reducing some undesirable loads.
Scientists have found that steroids do not cause any gene abnormalities in children and pathologies, however, the use of steroids should be discontinued three months before conception, after a recovery cycle. This is due to the fact that during pregnancy, the woman’s body creates a special hormones, necessary for bearing the fetus. Sporting goals in this period of time can prevent the body from creating conditions for pregnancy, lead to hormonal imbalance and malfunction, which can not only affect the health of the future baby, but also cause miscarriage. Drugs for hormone therapy are taken only for medicinal purposes and for maintaining pregnancy.
During breastfeeding, the woman retains the hormones necessary for the formation of quality milk. Therefore, at this stage, the intake of hormonal drugs and anabolic drugs is prohibited. As for sports, a woman can return to light exercises, but do not increase the load, as this can affect the quality of milk. During the feeding, the most perfect sports exercises will be shaping, aqua aerobics, aerobics, walks through the forest, gymnastics on the lawn.
Women should be very cautious to sports loads after cesarean section. The young female body easily recovers from childbirth, it is not able to prevent even the kilograms collected during pregnancy. However, the cesarean section is an unintended process, therefore it requires a long period of rest and inaction, even if the woman is a professional athlete. After childbirth with full recovery, a woman can return to the sport and take anabolic medications.
